by Agios Nikolaos is one of the major cities of Crete. It is located 80 km-s west from the airport Heraklion.
It isn't so touristy like Hersonissos. There are some nice buildings, a lake in the middle of the town, and a sandy strand. It is very pleasant and there are many things to do, but it's not so crowded, which is a great plus for it taking in account the other Greek cities. Kids loved it and so did we, you can take great walks among the narrow streets of the town and also inside it.

These islands have a huge lagoon in the center which is surrounded by cliffs of height 200 meters from 3 different sides. The island is situated on the slopes of these cliffs and ending up on the Aegean Sea. Another very small island famous by the name of Therasia is situated on the fourth side of this lagoon.
