by Berlin City is the largest city of Germany with 3.4 million inhabitants and an area of 892 square km so the city became the capital of the country. Berlin had the first time the status of the capital in 1871 and this status was maintained until 1945. With the passing of the years when Germany was unified again it became another time the capital of Germany in1990.
In 1989 the inhabitants of the west part of the city demolished the wall that was separating the city into two parts: West Berlin called in German Westberlin and East Berlin wich was appointed by the Germans just Berlin.
The main attractions of this capital are: the Arch of triumph, the Brandenburg Gate, the Gendarmenmarkt Square, the Pergamon Museum, the zoos, the Charlottenburg Palace, the Dahlem Museums, the Egyptian Museum and the collection of papyruses

Berlin History
In the 1100’s, the emperors and kings of Germany regained control over the Slavic lands. Many of the Slavs were driven out while others were made subject to German lords. The next few decades were spent in small skirmishes between the Slavic and German people. Finally, Albert the Bear was given control of the area by the German emperor and he united the people.
