Fort San Pedro: My Review

This is my personal review about Fort San Pedro.

Place:

It was clean, well-maintained and the place was full of green. The place was preserved very well and till now after all the flood, typhoon, strong winds and other disasters that visited Cebu it is still standing tall.

People:

This is quite the bad part, all we saw there was a cashier, a guard and some government people who are standing in front of the entrance (the place that was surrounded with green grass not the cemented one). I don't know what those people are doing on the green grass. Not so inviting for tourists local or foreigners alike. 

The cashier asked for payment and never hand-in brochures for my students. That's about it, they never even tell us where to go and just let us do our own thing and let us be... hmmm, Fort is under the hands of the Cebu City Gov't. maybe they focus on caring and making it clean at all times but when it comes to entertain people the tourists or visitors especially on tour they lack on this one.

Then the guard became the tour guide, maybe they run out of budget that the guard is doing some multi-tasking.

Overall:

Visiting Fort San Pedro is a must! To see and have a glimpse of centuries old structure that had been converted into many things such as hospital, barracks, camp, classroom etc, time and money spent is worth it all. People do commit mistakes and do have shortcomings/weaknesses. They too can change for the better but not Fort San Pedro. There is only one Fort San Pedro...

Observations:

For the locals, it served as a dating place for lovers and a place to find solitude due to its peacefulness and nice view inside the fort for single, married and just about every individual who seek refuge and inner peace.

For the foreigners, it is a historical place, part of the history of Cebu and a must see. 

Suggestions:

As for me, it can serve as place where to held reception for parties, garden wedding, etc... to add little cash that can be a big help in the preservation of Fort San Pedro. I am not sure if there are parties or weddings that have been held here in the past, if there were not then my suggestions will be a great thing to materialize to have other means of earning income aside from the entrance fee for the betterment of this historical park.

Then, it would be better if the City Gov't, will hire a tour guide that will talk about the Fort itself, how it was constructed, the restoration process, etc... and tour the people around the fort. Aside of course from the guard/tour guide who stays inside the museum. At least it would be worth every penny we paid on the entrance fee.
