My students in HRM and Tourism Management, my hubby and I went out to a Field Trip and visited one of the oldest houses in Parian (a place where the richest people in Cebu lived) as what I have remembered what my history teacher discussed before.
It was quite amusing try to have a glimpse of what has been considered as one of the preserved old houses here in Cebu. It was constructed within the 1600s-1700s and still up to now it is still standing tall within alongside the busy streets.
Too bad it was situated beside a concrete building. You can never feel the vibe of how people in the Philippines lived within the Spanish Era. All we saw there where different buildings, there were establishments and concrete houses too.
The house itself is full of culture and history that it can offer for me, my hubby and my students.
Around 3-4 centuries old house, quite interesting ain't it. The only question that popped out my mind is that how can such house withstand all the floods, typhoons and other natural calamities that came for the past centuries or so? A mystery ain't it? But as what the tour guide discussed, we found out that such house is constructed quite different than we do to our houses today.
