Atambua is a city in the Belu district, in the region of West Timor, in the province of East Nusa Tenggara in Indonesia. The city is on the Island of Timor, and it was the destination for a large flow of refugees from neighboring country East Timor in the year 2000, during that country's struggle for independence from Indonesia.
