New York, NY - Overview

- The Big Apple. The City that never sleeps. New York, New York!
by travelgrove-editor

(about New York, NY United States, last edited on Feb 22, 2006)

New York City is a place of great diversity and culture. You can literally smell it in the streets. Walking through the streets can let you forget that you are still in the US sometimes. The Pizza seems more Italian, the wine seems more French and when tasting the great food in China Town you certainly understand what New York is all about with its 20,000 restaurants. If you are just out to shop around, get ready and dive in, you can get anything from fake Gucci Jeans to the real Louis Vitton Bags, a little pricier of course. While visiting New York, make sure you also go check out the great range of museums, they got them for pretty much any field. Also try to catch one of the musicals, it well worth it.

The island of Manhattan, which is surrounded by four other distinct city boroughs - the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island is the epicenter of New York life.

Surrounding the epicenter, there is Soho lined with the finest art galleries and up market designer couture and Greenwich Village packed with cafes, shops and bars grouped around Washington Square Park, also home of New York University. With the Upper East Side as the hub of the greatest concentration of cultural centers also know as the Museum Mile, and it only seems fit that no other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art would stand here.

Chrysler Building What else? You can't surpass the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Central Park, Wall Street, Times Square or catch a Broadway show..

It doesn't really matter what you do or where you go in New York because the city itself jumps at you and delivers an exhilarating experience. New York really does have something for everyone. The remarkable thing is that New York looks even better in person, but let's go ahead anyways and exclaim, 'It's just like in the movies!'.
