After the wedding we stayed some days in Budapest. Zoli's brother is living and working here, so we had a cheap place to stay :)
At this time Anita, a girl from the United States was staying at Zoli's brother as well. Her family and Zoli's family are friends for many years now. She came here alone this time so we decided to organize some trips together with her.
Our first plan was to visit the zoo. Budapest has a very big and well maintained zoo with many kind of animals. I had been here once with Zoli last year I think, but that was in late September so not all the parts were opened.
When you pay the entrance fee you get a map on which you can see which kind of animal where can be found. It is very useful because it's a big zoo and you can't simply go round it. There are many ways, little streets so with this map you can see better where you have been and where not yet.
A very beautiful part of the zoo which was closed last time we were here was the butterfly house. Here you enter to a house which is full of different kinds of butterflies and flowers. The butterflies are free, so we had to be very careful not to step on them or to harm them in some way. I really liked this part of the zoo... it was like in the movies: you are between flowers and trees, butterflies are flying around you, they can even sit on your clothes... it made me feel very happy :)
A new part of the zoo was the Africa house. We entered a room in which there were maps of Africa, tools they use (or used to use), clothes and masks they wear. After going through this room there were many rooms with big windows to see the animals which were outside but there were some inside too :) We could witness how male turtles fight with each other for a female. It was quite funny.
While we were walking around the zoo we found a timetable showing the activities which can be visited during the day, like elephant feeding, the seal show and many others. We decided to watch the seal show, it sounded nice :) And it was really good indeed! It's amazing how these animals move, jump and carry things on the simple order of their tender.
Another part of the zoo we missed last time was the gophers "home". This is a quite big area enclosed with a plastic material which lets you to see through it. It's only about one meter high so we could even touch these little animals inside not just watch them. They were really friendly and let us to pet them. But after some moments I realized that they thought I'm giving them food and one of them wanted to bite me :) it was funny.
There were so many interesting things to see... we stayed there about 3-4 hours (or maybe more) but I still thought that we didn't see all of it. Okay, I have to admit that I love animals very much, and I can stay watching even a bird for half an hour, but there are so much things to do and to see in this zoo that you surely need several hours if you want to see a bigger part of it. And I forgot to mention the part of the zoo with plants, palm trees and there is new part with cacti. So if you decide to visit the Budapest Zoo (and I advise you to do so :) ) make sure you have enough time and you won't have to hurry.
