Sonkolyos is a recreation area on the banks of the river Crisul Repede. Offering rocks for climbing, a large place for tents, bathing possibilitiy in the river; the place is very popular among the people in the region.
There are some caves and hills beside the river.
We spent two days with some friends there. We slept in a tent which was very exciting for the kids. The only problem was the lack of toilets and hygiene rules were not respected by some fellow excursionists.
We cooked some tasty gulyas soup in a pot on the open fire.
I took my boat on the river which offered a lot of fun. The river is at that place not that fast, almost like a lake so we could row easily. There is a rock coming out of the water straight up like a wall, which is quite spectacular.
In the future, most likely, you will have to pay for camping. hopefully this fact will improve hygiene in the area.
