Brighton is spread across two mountains at the very top of Big Cottonwood Canyon and considered one of the most convenient, modern and popular ski areas in the west. It’s easy to ski or snowboard during the day and catch an afternoon flight with the Salt Lake International Airport being only 30 miles away!
Located 35 miles from Salt Lake International Airport and only 30 minutes southeast of downtown Salt Lake City, Brighton has been a popular family destination since 1936. Actually the locals consider it the nr. 1 resort for Child/Family Friendly Terrain and Best Value in the state of Utah. Brighton is the perfect ski destination for families as they don’t have to pay for their kids to ski as kids 10 years old and younger can ski free. Actually Brighton is the first resort in Utah to offer kids free skiing and snowboarding. This advantage has attracted many families and it has proven a very good strategy to make even more people coming. It is especially advantageous for families with more kids; this keeps both parents and children happy as they enjoy skiing as much as their parents having suitable terrain to meet their level and age.

As far as the terrain is concerned the range is pretty vast and it’s good to know that there are over 66 runs with varying expertise, 850 skiable acres and 7 lifts. The lifts and notable high-speed quads make family rides possible and they can meet at the bottom and it is still the lifts that provide this unique opportunity to have unlimited access to some of the best backcountry throughout two mountains. They can get to solitary canyons and really feel they are alone with God and nature, they can get away from it all. The trails are meticulously groomed during the day as well as during the night, so the activity is kept going in perfect conditions. All levels of skiers are kept satisfied by the diverse terrain. The expert skiers meet technical difficulty and steep terrain on Milly, the intermediate skiers have the powdered terrain and bowls of Snake Creek while Explorer and Majestic is for beginners. Brighton's terrain park has been dubbed due to the many rails and with two half pipes cut almost on a daily basis, riders go up to 10 to 12 feet on a 150 to 300 foot pipe. This diverse terrain makes riders want to return year after year.
You can quickly get from being a beginner to an intermediate due to the teaching program designed to help new riders learn to turn quicker. Burton Method Center has professional instructors teaching the necessary techniques to small classes giving them the chance to better deal with each student and make the lesson enjoyable and successful. If you are already an intermediate student you can get help perfecting your technique.
Complete ski and snowboard rentals are available including a wide selection of snow sports clothing and accessories. And if your equipment gets damaged you can have it repaired in no time. You don’t have to worry too much about dining either as there are reasonably priced cafeterias and restaurants offering a diverse cuisine.
