(about Breckenridge, CO United States, last edited on Sep 18, 2007)

Breckenridge Ski Resort is a nation’s premier year-round destination that has a lot to offer for your next getaway. It is spread out on the spine of the Ten Mile Range and it is set in the largest historic district in the heart of the Colorado Rockies being itself a 147-year-old Victorian town. But its rich history is not the main attraction. Its amazing terrain parks are among the biggest attraction, and they have become world renowned.

In its early times what lured people here was a totally different thing, gold. Even if the reason for coming here has changed, one important thing stayed the same, people keep coming here for one reason or another some come for history and relaxation as the town features a wide variety of shops on Historic Main Street Breckenridge with over 180 boutiques, galleries, clothing and gear stores, historic sights and cultural entertainment, while others come here for the outdoor activities on one of its 146 trails.

Breckenridge is also a good place for kids so families coming here will not have problems in finding something for their kids’ entertainment. There are a great number of activities including adventures, plus an introduction to the history and culture of the area. The Summit Historical Society offers historical tours of the highlights. You can also sign up for a guided trip to ghost towns and mining sites.

Arriving for the first time Breckenridge you might want to know the town first before adventuring in one of the outdoor activities and experiencing the town is ultimately the best way to learn about it. Start strolling among the historic buildings of Breckenridge, sit down at one of its many restaurants and when the night comes enjoy some locally-brewed beer with family and friends in one of the clubs.

Whether you're looking for BBQ, sushi, pizza, pasta, soups, salads or simple sandwiches, one of the 100 restaurants in Breckenridge is sure to satisfy. You’ll have few problems finding somewhere to eat good food in a fun atmosphere at reasonable prices. There’s everything from crusty coffee shops to fine dining restaurants offering elegant atmospheres. World-renown chefs cook in these kitchens, and thousands enjoy their culinary creations each year. Having your meal while looking at a breathtaking view is an experience you can’t miss. If you will have problems choosing the best spots, check out the Breckenridge Dining Guide.

Night in Breckenridge is not less pleasurable. You can unwind and relax after a day full of action on the mountains having a beverage and listening to some rock’n roll, reggae, country western, jazz or alternative rock performances in one of the nightclubs, bars or taverns. For a more thoughtful nightlife, Backstage Theatre features memorable live entertainment presented in a warm atmosphere.

It is the recreational activities that are so various and great in number. They come to meet every skier’s level and preference having up to 10 peaks on which they can practice their favourite sport. Some of the peaks are among the highest in North America and they are all beautifully snow capped forming a rugged and beautiful landscape.

The number of outdoor activities is impressive you can do anything from Dog Sledding to Hot Air Balloon Rides that will give you a different viewpoint on Breckenridge. There are ice skating, figure skating and hockey possibilities indoors or outdoors on the Maggie Pond, Stephen C. West Arena or Breckenridge Ice Rinks with all the necessary equipment available on sight so you won’t need to bring much with you if you don’t feel like carrying much.
But there are even the specific warm periods sports like fishing that are possible here year round, winter making it just a bit more challenging. Spas are also very popular with professional therapists seeing to your treatment.

But these are just a few of the many activities on offer; you will definitely not get bored while you’re here and whatever your budget or style the outdoor experiences and spectacular natural beauty will definitely make your vacation unforgettable.
