(about Comox, BC Canada, last edited on Oct 02, 2007)

Comox offers unrivalled vacation possibilities for those who want to have fun, enjoy the outdoors and sports, the unique urban centers where they can shop and taste the delicious local cuisine or relax at a live theatre performance or art show.

It is a pleasant town for walking most of the walkways offering great views of the Comox Harbour or of Strathcona Park. You can walk for hours and not get tried of all the sights. There is also Filberg Lodge and Park featuring an Arts and Crafts-style home, a petting zoo and acres of forest.

There is more for those who want some more activity and the choice is so wide that it makes the decision difficult especially for those who come only for a couple of days. Tourism is very well developed and Comox makes the base for exploring the outdoor resources of the area. Comox Valley offers endless outdoor activities. Taking them all will really put you back in shape. The various landscapes include a number of rivers. At Campbell River you can visit the Elk Falls Mill; Gold River offering a view just as beautiful.

Water lovers will enjoy making a splash at the local wave pool or running through twisting sprinklers at a water park on a hot summer day. The ocean beckons kayakers and divers and all those who feel like a dip can cool down in the hot summer days or lie in the sun on fine sand beaches. Safe stretches of sandy beaches offer a perfect place for kids to play on the shoreline, explore tidal pools or build a sand castle between refreshing dips in the ocean.

If you don’t like to stay in one place experiencing the beaches at Qualicum Beach and Parkville is a good choice. Centrally located the city makes a good base for exploring other areas like Vancouver Island, the Horne Lake Caves, Strathcona Provincial Park, First Nations communities or Telegraph Cove where you can go whale watching. The area beautifully combines the different landscapes. There are also mountains and temperate rainforest with trails perfect for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders, the lakes awaiting fishermen and swimmers.

No matter what landscape you favor and activity you fancy Comox Valley has something for everybody any time of the year, no wonder Comox Valley is one of the most popular destinations in the state.

And what is more important is that it is also a family destination and you will be able to make your child happy while you yourself can have the world of fun. Keeping the kids happy is so important that there is even a festival for them called Kids Fest. Activities range from sailing, camping, art classes, theatre, climbing, skiing, dance, martial arts and more. No matter how quickly your child gets bored, here he can switch between a great number of indoor and outdoor activities. Skateboard parks, a BMX race track, numerous playgrounds, three movie theatres and mini-golf all help to keep active kids occupied. There various recreation centers like the Coombs Country Market renowned for the miniature goats on the roof and unique shops. At Mount Washington Alpine Resort kids can practice skiing and snowboarding or take in snow tubing.

At the petting farms kids can watch and touch animals. Saratoga Speedway is ideal for speed loving kids and Mount Washington is dedicated for those who have a sweet tooth. Feeding your kids will not be a problem as there are plenty of local restaurants featuring kids’ menus and activities.

Comox Valley is a shopper's dream and you will be able to shop for kids’ clothes and toys, handcrafted goods, or outdoor adventure stuff.Whether you want a vacation filled with outdoor adventure, relaxation, celebration or urban cultural pursuits, you'll find it in the Comox Valley. Comox Valley is the perfect starting place for exciting day-trips and adventures!
