if you would like to travel in Europe, this could be a nice ideea to you: from London to Rome(London, Paris, Ber, Rome) in 20 days!
A few tips:
1) with a group of 8, I would start working on accomodations... though you didn't say when you'll be traveling. If you're staying 5-6 days in each city, you may want to look into renting 2 apartments for each city (4 persons per apt).
2) The Eurostar train from London to Paris - book your tickets in advance gives you bigger discounts. However, you can't book TOO far in advance (can't recall if it is 60 or 90 or 120 days)
3) check budget airlines between Paris and Rome. The budget airline tickets are also cheaper if you buy early than late.
4) Nothing I can think of for London and Paris sightseeing that you need to book in advance. However, for Rome, if you want to take the Vatican Scavi tour; or Borghese gallery; or Vatican museum tickets - all these can be booked in advance. Once you figure what you want to see/do in Rome, then come back and do a search here on this forum for Rome. There are lots of threads that cover sightseeing in Rome.

Of course there are trains from Paris to Rome, but it is a very long ride - 12+ hours. If you consider the train an experience in itself, perhaps it would be worth it, although it will burn a very full day. You could take a night train, if you don't mind a bad night's sleep. I suggest sticking with flying between Paris and Rome.
