Still in Bangkok

So I picked up my Irina and Maria at the airport and then we headed for the first culture shock. I guess we did stop at our hotel first, where we took a quick nap. I also had to run back to my old hotel where I had left my airplane tickets to Krabi. By the way, if you are ever going there, it’s worth it to book the ticket online. I booked ours in a travel agency and they were quite expensive… well about 80 bucks a piece.

After we got up, we went down to China town. It was quite a crazy trip because of all the traffic. China town is not the best area in Bangkok, but certainly very interesting if you are into some crazy foods. After taking about an hour or so to get down there from Sukhumvit Soi 22, we walked around for just about 45 minutes to get an impression. Then we took a Tuc Tuc down to the flower market. Unfortunately, they had cleaned up most of them already when we got there, but it was still alright. 20 minutes later it was raining and I guess that’s why people say you shouldn’t go to Thailand in the rainy period. I don’t really care, the rain is warm and there are plenty of taxis around to take you to the next comfortable mall or coffee shop. Anyhow, we hopped onto a taxi and drove back up to Siam, I would have gone down to the Royal Palace but there will be plenty of time when we get back.

We arrived at MDK around 6 o’clock checked out Paragon and Siam Discovery Center and then we hit the most amazing buffet over at Oishi. These Japanese people really know how to cook J. Anyway, take a look at the pictures I uploaded yesterday… tiger king prawn, Chateau Briand, soft shell crap, Sashimi, Korean BBQ, suckling pig, and a ton of other yummy stuff. The buffet is really good but also comes at a relatively steep price of 790 Baht which is around 17 Euros. Very well worth it and a must for everyone who likes good food. If you do have more time in Bangkok it is worth it to drive up to Future Park, which is just North of Don Muang airport (the old one) and there you can shop around and then hit Oishi there, which is much larger than the one at Siam Discovery Center and it’s also a lot cheaper.

Ok, enough of the food… We headed back to the hotel after walking around. We did hear a lot of sirens on the way out, stopped and then saw some police cars and limos stopping next to us. The policemen quickly jumped out of the vehicle and then saluted to the guys exiting the limos, no idea whom it was, but the scene had something to it.

After we got back to the hotel we finally changed into our swim suits and then hopped into the pool, which was nice as it was located on the 5th floor and you had a good night view over Bangkok.
