Confusing London

London is one of the greatest cities of the world and not just in the "geographical" sense of the world. For the first time there I was very confused, but after the third visit I got used to the taste of the city.

Before going I phoned the people from Great Western (Railway) and they told me many options of travelling in London. My choice was the Travel Card. It is a card with which you can travel on all the main tube lines in London for 24 hours. It is perfect for tourists who are visiting from another town and they need to catch a train to go home. For those who spend more than one day in London a good choice would be the Oyster card. You can put as much money as you want on the Oyster Card and if you run out of money during your journey you can always top it up.

 I was very lucky because from May until September the Changing of the Guards at the Buckingham Palace is a huge ceremony and I was able to watch it. It was amazing and horrible at the same time. There are thousands of people there, stepping on each other and policemen on horses are trying to keep some kind of an order during the total chaos. 

The great thing about London is that all the historical places and monuments are really close to each other. From the Buckingham Palace if you walk through St.James Park you get to the Horse Guards. From here you can see Picadilly Circus and The National Museum. And from the National Museum you can see the Big Ben, which is 10 minutes walking distance. Near the Big Ben is The Westminster Abbey and guess what, you can see London Eye from there, which is also like 15 minutes away. So if you go to the Buckingham Palace at 11 a.m. you can watch the Changing of The Guards which end at around half past 12. And by 2 p.m. you can see a lot of London sights without paying a penny for tubes or busses. 

The other great thing is that there is a tube station at every famous sight. From Big Ben you can take the tube to the Tower. The entrance to the Tower is about 15 pounds and it is really worth your money. There are many exhibitions and the Tower is a lifetime experience. 

St. Paul's Cathedral also has a tube station and there is a caffeteria called the Crypt Caffee if you get hungry during all the sightseeing experience.

All the museums are for free in London. All of them. You can leave a donation if you want to, but they are free. The National Museum has a lot of paintings, most of them renaissance paintings. There are also some Picasso, Van Gogh and Monet works, which are fabulous. The Museum is huge, it takes at least 3 hours to walk through it. The British Musem has a lot of Egyptian stuff, which is my favourite. 

The Victoria and Albert Museum, The Museum of Natural History and the Science Museum are next to each other and they are also very huge.
