Ooty Hill Station-Queen of all hill station

Short name for Udhagamandalam, Ooty is a very popular hill station of Tamil Nadu, a southern state of India, which was developed by British during their reign. It is located 105 km away from Coimbatore in the hills of Nilgiris (meaning “the blue mountains” literally). For tourists and visitors, Ooty is also a place to remember for its home made chocolates and hand-rolled cigars.

The main tourist places of Ooty tour are the following:

Government Botanical Garden

Laid out in the year 1847, this garden is spread in an area of 22 acres. Known for a preserved fossil tree trunk of 20 million years, the flora of this garden is extremely versatile, something that can’t be easily forgotten.

Hindustan Photo Films

Known for its economic values, the place is known for producing different varieties of photographic films.

Doddabetta

The highest peak of Nilgiris, named Doddabetta, is located about 10 Km from Ooty. Located at the junction of the Western & Eastern Ghats it offers beautiful expanse of the Nilgiris. Enjoy the alluring views of this landscape.

Mini Garden

Mini garden can be visited on the way to the Boat House. There is a children amusement park with a snack bar near the garden for a full time merriment.

The Mukkurthi Peak & National Park

Mukkurthi Peak is from a small distance from Ooty. You can visit The Mukkurthi National Park located nearby. The Silent Valley is one more fascination for tourists here.

Pykara

Known for its grassy meadows and good wildlife, it is just few km away from Ooty and good for hanging out. The Pykara Dam, Pykara falls and the reservoir are centre of attraction for all the tourists coming here.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary is at an altitude of 1140 mt near the junction point of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. With a large variety of habitats, it is home to animals and birds.

Lake View

An artificial lake, formed in 1824 by Mr. John Sullivan, is a centre of attraction of all the tourists coming here.

Deer Park

This place is inhabited by Sambar, Chital and Hares besides water birds.

The Narrow Trail

The trail starts at Mettupalayam which is located 46 km from Ooty. A Journey to enjoy!

The best time to visit Ooty is in the months starting from November to March. This is when crowd can be avoided to some extent. The normal temperature of Ooty varies from 5 to 25 degree centigrade in winters and summers respectively. To enjoy this pleasurable climate, you can take a bus or taxi from the railway station (47 Km) and airport (105 Km) to reach Ooty hill station. So, time to have full-on fun has arrived!
