  • Top 5 attractions in California

The United States has many regions where tourists are drawn like magnets, and for good reason. And among the top best travel destinations in the US, California has always been one of the most exciting places. California has all the ingredients for a perfect vacation: lush national parks, beautiful sandy beaches, vineyards and theme parks, and of course cities where the American dream is very much real.

If you want a holiday in a place that combine both natural beauty and amazing man-made attractions, California should be at the top of your travel destination list. Here are the top 5 attractions in California.

    Napa Valley

If you are a wine enthusiast and you know the tricks of wine tasting, or if you’re simply someone who likes to sip a nice cup of wine every now and then, you will have loads of fun in Napa Valley. The region is famous worldwide for its excellent wines, and it was voted The World’s Best Wine and Food Destination in 2010 by Tripadvisor.

In addition to that, wine connoisseurs consider Napa Valley as one of the nine Great Wine Capitals on earth. But there’s more to Nap Valley then good wine and food – there are wildlife tours that you can go on, a petrified forest, air balloon rides and many other activities.

    Yosemite National Park

Yosemite is undeniably one of the most beautiful natural parks in the US, and one of the oldest too. The park in known for its granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves and amazing flora and fauna.

The park itself it gigantic, it sprawls over more than 750,000 acres, so it’s difficult to explore it in its entirety, but some highlights include Eagle Peak, Glacier Point, Half Dome, Mariposa Grove and Ribbon Fall.

Sea World & the Zoo Of San Diego

These are two distinct attractions, but if you’re in San Diego, it would be a pity not to visit both of them. Sea World is different fromĀ  most other ocean themed parks because it allows visitors to interact with many of the species, and its main attractions are the killer whales and their performances.

The famous San Diego Zoo, located in Balboa Park, has animals that you can see in only few other zoos on the planet, and many exciting animal shows.

    Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle is a National Historic Landmark designed by Julia Morgan and built between 1919 and 1947 for magnate William Randolph Hearst. The mansion and the grounds are part of a state historic park. The building itself is nothing less of eye-popping, and it is filled with all sorts of historical displays.

    Los Angeles

Los Angeles, the heart of the American show business, is a destination that you can’t miss.

The city is full of cultural attractions like museums and memorials, but it’s probably best known for its nightlife (and celebrities). Visit Hollywood district for some celebrity encounters, or at least to see where the rich and famous live.

Honestly, I think San Francisco needs to be on the list. It’s a nice tourist city. If you visit LA as a tourist, it’s just a massive jungle and you’ll most likely be disappointed by Hollywood. Nevertheless, LA is awesome if you know it. I just doubt that tourists will see that LA. Going for a walk in Hollywood is ok, Venice beach is just amazing and so are some of the local spots like china town and Redondo. But then everyone just cares about Hollywood, like I said that’s not what makes LA awesome.

    Cheers

I can’t believe you left out the Monterey Coast. From Big Sur up to Santa Cruz, this area is one of the most beautiful in the world. It has everything – ocean cliffs, whale watching, cute coastal towns, towering redwoods in the mountains of Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Point Lobos.

Im surprised to see that Santa Barbara isn’t mentioned and for that matter San Francisco or Lake Tahoe! All are great places depending on what you are looking for. I just got home from visiting Santa Barbara and it was one of the best vacations I’ve ever been on. Great beaches, surf, wine, hiking, etc. We stayed at the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Really close to everything and incredibly affordable, it was great! Regardless, the San Diego Zoo is a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong, but you forgot some great places!
