If there was a course on traveling 101, there would be a couple of destinations that would most likely make the list of places that a tourist has got to see in their lifetime. Not only because they are really quite interesting, but because travelers of every type visit them, and it would possibly be a blow on your traveler’s cred (in some traveler circles, at least) to say that you’ve never seen them before.

If you’re only at the beginning of your ‘career’ as traveler, seasoned travelers might tell you to ditch any rules and visit whatever makes you happy, but it doesn’t hurt to take a look at some of the top 10 most visited tourist attractions in the world – there’s a good reason why they are so popular!

    1. Times Square, Manhattan, New York, USA

Almost 40 million people visit Times Square every year, which makes it the most visited tourist attraction in the world according to Forbes.

    2. Central Park, Manhattan, New York, USA

Another Manhattan sight, the lush Central Park made it on the second place with 38 million visitors! Unsurprisingly, New York is doing quite well when it comes to visitors.
Central Park is one of the most glamorous parks in the world, having been featured in dozens of films, so it’s no surprise that few tourists choose to miss out on it.

    3. Union Station, Washington, USA

Union Station is one of the busiest places in the US capital, and that’s because it is no simple train station – there are enough shops, restaurants, and cafe to satisfy 32 million visitors each year.

    4. Las Vegas Strip, Las Vegas, Nevada

Since many of the largest hotels, casinos and resorts in the world are to be found on the Strip, it’s obvious that the influx of tourists coming to sample Sin City’s delights is considerable to say the least.

    5. Niagara Falls, Canada/USA

This place is no longer a lover’s only destination, and he beauty of the falls through which Niagara River drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario is a something that everyone should see in their lifetimes.
Although Niagara is not the tallest waterfall in the world, it is one of the most spectacular, and like Central Park, it has been in more blockbuster films than one can count.

    6. Trafalgar Square, London, UK

This splendid public square commemorates the victory of Lord Nelson over the French and the Spanish in 1805. Trafalgar would be pretty busy even if there weren’t any tourists swarming around, but if you see anyone gathering around the many statues and other monuments, you can be sure that they are travelers like you.

    7. Grand Bazaar, Istanbul, Turkey

The closest you can get to the atmosphere of the Arabian Nights is Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, the oldest covered bazaar in the world, where you can find everything your heart desires.

    8. The Great Wall of China

It’s a myth that you can see the Great Wall  of China from space, but that doesn’t tarnish its reputation in the least. It might not be large enough to be seen from a satellite or the moon, but the wall is such a massive structure that has taken much painstaking effort to build that you’d have to have a heart of stone not to be impressed by it.

    9. Tokyo Disney Resort, Chiba, Japan

The pair made by Disney’s Resort’s DisneySea and Disneyland are a force to be reckoned with – more than 13 million people visit them every year.

    10. Louvre Museum, Paris, France

The Louvre is one of the most famous museums in the world, containing some of the most famous pieces of art in human history and some incredible collections of antiquities.
