Early autumn is the perfect season for spending some time outdoors if you’re lucky enough to get some fine weather. And mild weather notwithstanding, there’s another upside to going out into nature in autumn: autumn foliage! Of course, if you want to bask in the brilliantly colored beauty of autumn trees, you have to make sure that you’re visiting a destination in a temperate region, and more importantly, a deciduous forest.

As these key ingredients can be encountered in many national parks, this is the perfect time of the year to spend a few days in a cabin, go camping or have a road trip. Here are 5 national parks to visit this autumn in the US.

  • The coolest monuments in the US

Monuments are usually things that nobody really looks at unless they are a tourist, and of course, unless they are particularly spectacular. Looking at an ordinary obelisk that commemorates a historical event is not everyone’s cup of tea, especially if you’re not particularly passionate about history.

But then there’s another type of monuments, the kind that will make you stare in wonder and go ‘wow’. And the US has plenty of these, fortunately! Some of them are more well known than the other, but they all have one thing in common: they are simply cool. So here are some of the coolest monuments in the US.

  • The best camping spots in the US

Since it’s the beginning of November, one would think that the weather is not warm enough for camping in the temperate regions. But if it’s not raining and the weather is mild enough, why should you not go out in the nature for a few days at least? Besides, in the fall season you won’t have to worry about insect bites, heat rashes and dog days.

All you need is a good tent and a warm sleeping bag, a pot to heat water in, and some good humor. After all, there is no obstacle that a creative camper can’t overcome. So here are the best camping spots in the US, where you can commune with nature for a while.

  • Fun Easter destinations: Five Ski Resorts That Rock

In the last post I was suggesting some less conventional ways to spend Easter, among which I also included toe possibility to go for a short ski vacation. Fortunately, the Rockies are still tucked under a  thick layer of snow, so, no matter whether you prefer the slopes of Wyoming, Utah, Colorado or California, you will be able to ski in the same perfect conditions (and even get some nice tan). An impromptu ski vacation won’t give you too much trouble if you have the necessary equipment and a  spacious four wheel vehicle. In case you need to take the plane, it might get a little pricier (tickets have a tendency to get really expensive near Easter).

However, in terms of skiing, April is far out of the peak season, so accommodation and equipment rental rates will have significantly reduced. Based on some recent snow reports and also on the amount of fun they are likely to provide, here are the most recommended USA ski resorts for the Easter break:

  • America’s Most Fabulous Historic Routes

No matter for which part of the United States you are heading this summer, it is always a good idea to check what attractions you might find in your way. Rather than spending hours in a row in some obscure rest area along the highway, your could use that precious time to visit some less known historic building or natural curiosity. It’s very likely that a 21 century road trip won’t transform you into a men of the west; but it represents, however, a great opportunity to visit some unique attractions and refresh your knowledge of the American history.

Following one of America’s historic routes is also a great way to make your journey children-friendly and help them learn a thing or two about their ancestors:
