The most amazing public pools in the world
Swimming is fun and healthy, but liking to swim does not mean that one must necessarily like swimming in the sea, a lake, river or some other ‘natural’ body of water. And that’s alright, because unpredictable waves, sudden holes in the bottom of a lake or river, or fast flowing water are not everyone’s cup of tea.
Luckily for beginners and people who are not all that confident in their swimming skills, there are more than enough pools, private or public, where you can exercise the fine art of swimming, and here’s a list of the most amazing public pools in the world.
Krapfenwaldlbad, Vienna, Austria
Despite its name being a bit of a mouthful, Krapfenwaldlbad can best be described as laden with stylish, uncomplicated comfort. Krapfenwaldlbad park in Vienna’s Krapfenwaldlbad neighborhood can boast of four heated pools which have become an integral part of the city’s social scene as soon as the weather gets warm enough to wear a swim suit. The pools are surrounded by various amenities, like a restaurant, soccer and tennis courts, kids’ playground and others.
Kastrup Søbad, Copenhagen, Denmark
Kastrup Søbad, or Kastrup Sea Baths, is a great way to enjoy the water of the Baltic Sea.The baths consist in a circular wooden pavilion in the shallow water, connected to the shore through a wooden boardwalk. Barton Springs Pool, Austin, Texas
The springs that feed the pool were considered to be sacred by Native Americans in the past, and the waters were thought to have healing properties. Take a rejuvenating dip in the water, and afterward you can sit in the shade of the ancient pecan and oak trees of Zilker Metropolitan Park.
Coral Gables Venetian Pool, Coral Gables, Florida
Coral Gables Venetian Pool is a historical attraction as well as an unbelievably nice green pool, dating back to the 1920’s. The water in the pool is 8 feet deep, and it is refilled every night with crystal clear spring water. The two waterfalls connected to the pool and the submerged grottoes look magical when evening falls and the vintage lampposts are lit.
