    Manila

    Manila

If you’re traveling to Asia this summer, you won’t lack any entertainment no matter what your tastes in attractions are. If you are a music lover and you want to see what music festivals are like on continents other than America and Europe, there are plenty of events to attend in Asia this summer and autumn.

Whether you’re interested in some traditional music or if you just want to see some good internationally and locally known bands, a music festival is a great idea for your holiday, so here are the best music festivals in Asia.

    Baybeats, Singapore

Singapore is becoming a little mecca for music festivals, and one of the best yearly festivals that you can attend on the island nation is Baybeats. This music festival is held at the Esplanade Theater, and features three days of concerts by some of the best Singaporean bands.

Although there are international acts too, the focus is on home-grown talent. Several genres of music are featured, and you can just go to the stage that plays the kind of music you like. The festival takes place in August, and is free of charge.

Fuji Rock Festival, Naeba Ski Resort, Japan

Despite the name of this festival, the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji is nowhere near Naeba, in Niigata Prefecture, where the festival is held. Fuji Rock is the biggest music festival in Japan, with famous international bands and artists playing on the main stage, while underground and indie bands play on the several other stages of the festival.

Rainforest World Music Festival, Kuching, Malaysia

Rainforest World Music Festival celebrates the diversity of world music, but that’s not all. The three day festival has various workshops, arts and crafts displays, cultural displays, food stalls and more. There are concerts of traditional music, as well as fusion and modern world music, with an emphasis on traditional acoustic instruments.

Pentaport Rock Festival, Incheon, South Korea

Pentaport Rock Festival is the largest live music festival in South Korea, held every year at the end of July. This is not simply a rock festival, as there are many more featured genres of music, although rock and electro music are the most popular at the event.

    Pulp Summer Slam, Manilla, Philippines

The biggest summer music festival in the Philippines features local and international bands, most rock bands, but with the addition of hip-hop, rap, ska, reggae and pop-rock artists.

Although the festival lasts less than one day (it starts at 1 pm and ends at 5 am), it draws around 30,000 people each year.
